Satellites are spawned by Barycenters for the sake of collecting and herding materials into their gravitational fields. A group of Satellites is called a well.

Physical Description

Satellites are quite large even as far as spawns of lesser titans go, standing at an impressive 6' 4" (193cm). This puts them a fair bit above their grandparent Reconcilants, though they are not nearly as well built once their shell is appropriately factored in. Satellites are the only puppet type to be noticeably different when first born; they must form their shells out of dust and ice from their parent Barycenter's rings, and thus for the first few moments of their lives they are missing a critical component of themselves. Satellites also boast a pair of unusual, tentacular "wings" that they use to "fly" via stretching them out to grab the air around them. These wings are virtually amorphous, but seem to have maximum limits as to how far they can stretch, and are almost completely incompressible past their "resting" size.

Behaviour

Satellites can be divorced from their parent Barycenters, but it is unlikely for them to venture far outside of a Barycenter's reach for very long; their "flight" abilities are much worse without the altered gravity, and a Satellite is not especially powerful in combat beyond its brute physical strength. Satellites prefer to stay near their parents, occasionally flicking out of their parents' spheres of influence to pick up loose rocks and materials to bring them into the fold. In this regard, Satellites are borderline kleptomaniacal: They will take just about anything they can lift, and even if they can't lift it themselves, they will often bring their parent or their fellows in to move it.

Satellites also help their parents manage captured materials; forming bodies where appropriate, avoiding dangerous collisions, and other things. They are the only puppet type that has some level of awareness when their parents are asleep, as they're capable of basic orbit maintenance even when dozing. This behaviour is very basal and incomplex, and as such the general theory is that it is a Satellite's equivalent of sleepwalking.

Genetic Description

Satellites take a number of strange epigenetic triggers found across other puppets; most notably those among Deltas, Praetors, and even Serfs. Though the reasoning for the exact mix isn't apparent, most point to a combination of physical and behavioural traits as the main culprit.

Metanarrative

Satellites are similar to Heralds in regards to the fact that they're fairly tightly bound to their parent puppet, but are technically capable of functioning on their own, just not quite as intuitively. Satellites are also an extra generation down, for whatever that's worth.
