Spawned by Cornucopiae, Coddlers are extraordinarily fluffy puppets that act as therapy animals for others in times of crisis. A group of Coddlers is called a snuffle or a chinook.

Like their sibling Fronds, Coddlers are fairly big for being subpuppets of subpuppets, though they are quite a bit smaller than Fronds at a height of 2' 6" (76cm). Their bodies are fairly moderately built, though it's hard to tell under their thick coats of cotton wool, which are their defining traits. They are one of the few puppet types to bear blisters on their head (alongside Pustules), and if they are shorn they are revealed to have no blister sacs on their bodies at all. Like Fronds, they have quite a bit of plant componentry, though unlike Fronds much of this verdant material is located near the skin, particularly replacing hair follicles around the barrel and upper legs.

Coddlers are an exceptionally cuddly sort of puppet, as their name implies. They act as therapy animals for others during crisis, helping alleviate stress by providing gentle comfort. Their cotton wool is exceptionally soft, and Coddlers are capable of adjusting the warmth of their wool to the liking of those they're comforting. Their typical playbook is to just bump up or snuggle against those they're trying to comfort. A Coddler's wool is surprisingly durable, allowing them to endure heavier blunt blows than their raw toughness might imply, and regrows quickly when shorn (especially if a Cornucopia is using verdant magic on the Coddler). It is a favoured twine-making material by Serfs.

While they rarely use this ability, Coddlers are able to magically induce sleep on targets around them. They mostly use this magic when other methods of calming a subject are nonviable, or if the subject is violent. This also makes them one of the few Cambrian-related puppets with a genuine combat utility, though Codders will almost never seek violent situations.

Coddlers share much of their epigenetic triggers with other half-plants like Cambrians, Cornucopiae, and Fronds, though the fact that the distribution varies so widely between different puppet types is evidence of more epigenetic triggers than are visible in a laboratory study (that is, an extracted piece of material).

Coddlers are probably the Cambrian subpuppet I have the most to talk about, by virtue of the fact they're heavily inspired by "fluffy ponies", which are a subset of pony fanon. I advise caution while looking them up, because while the fluffy ponies themselves are very cute, they're also the subject of an awful lot of violent and disturbing content. Look them up at your own peril.

Coddlers themselves are just therapy animals. Something you can hold and snuggle and whatnot when things get too rough. After all, a cataclysm wouldn't stop at physical hurts; mental issues would crop up too.
