Barycenters are miniature titans spawned by Reconcilants. They are very heavy puppets that specialize in manipulating gravity for the sake of space optimization and storage, stocking spare land and plant matter until it is needed. They also spawn Satellites to help them shepherd their collected debris. A group of Barycenters is known as a cluster or a system.

Physical Description

Despite being spawned by puppets themselves, Barycenters are considerably massive creatures, standing at a massive 32' 10" (1001cm) tall, with fairly hefty builds. Their most striking feature is by far their triplicate heads, which are capable of independently focusing and managing different subjects; each head is capable of a fair amount of articulation, and seems to carry some even split of control over the Barycenter's psionic and magical abilities. Also of note is the two large debris rings that surround the Barycenter's torso. These rings are a fairly consistent part of the Barycenter's body, but if they're disturbed the Barycenter will seek out dust and debris to replenish them.

Behaviour

Barycenters specialize in large scale gravitational manipulation, creating large fields around themselves where otherwise immovable objects can freely float and orbit around them. They can maintain these fields even when their magic is disrupted, or if they're put to sleep, suggesting that they are more psionic in nature. While the fields they make are generally incapable of causing damage, Barycenters are capable of eroding some materials like dirt, stone, and ice into dust to reform their rings. They also use this gravity altering ability to form shells for their Satellites, which Barycenters spawn to help shepherd maintain their aggregated orbiting objects.

Despite their immense size and power, Barycenters display a very lively nature similar to other subpuppets that Reconcilants spawn; they will often attempt to sneak up on or play-fight with other titans or lesser titans, occasionally without caution for smaller puppets. This can lead to some troublesome scenarios, though the psionic connection between all puppets means truly dangerous incidents are very rare.

Genetic Description

Barycenters have a strange mix of epigenetic traits, though said mix of traits isn't inexplicable; many of the triggers are shared with their parent Reconcilants as well as other Titans, and they also show some latent response to Pustule pheromones like Imps and Arrays do.

Their considerable size combined with the fact that they have three fully developed heads instead of the half-heads that Reconcilants and Hyacinth themselves have suggests some level of evolution, but curiously, Barycenters are not particularly strong spawners, instead using their psionics to coordinate and aid Satellite movement and the strength and direction of their own gravitational fields.

Hyacinth's Thoughts

Oh, the surprise my Reconcilants gave me when I realized they were building their own titans... I felt so proud I thought one of my hearts might explode. And, might I say, they learned well from me. The Barycenters are well-behaved, if a bit too eager or playful at times, but I catch how the Perditioners look at them when they help keep a spare piece of land out of the way of the littler ones. The Barycenters do so love collecting their little orbital pieces; I've caught them with all sorts of things in their fields, just excitedly awaiting the time such odds and ends are useful. Some days I can't resist kissing their cheek, which I of course have to repeat once for each of their heads.

Metanarrative

I don't have a specific source of inspiration for Barycenters, aside from the obvious "space and astronomy in general". They mostly came about as something to really reinforce the Reconcilant's role as the main puppet spawner type; they were the first, and are intended to be the most advanced, and thus they get their own Titan-type subpuppet to distinguish themselves from other puppets who have gotten increased subpuppet variety in recent times, such as Totems and Anchorages.
