Tremorids are among the most 'normal' of the Ouroborae, standing at rather average height. Their double-broad, heavy builds make them large enough to maintain an active lithosphere internally, and as such they are the most tectonically active of any Ouroboran. A group of Tremorids is known as a plume.

Physical Description

Tremorids are slightly above average in terms of size for Ouroborae, standing at roughly 2962 miles (4766.9km) tall. Their most notable external trait is just how wide they are, with their already double-broad physiques being further augmented with a large "antler" on either side of their body (similar to that of an Anchorage's), allowing them to support substantially wide continents even for their size. This large form also makes them exceptionally heavy, and they are prone to lying closer to the planet's core than their height would suggest, typically requiring psionic effort to slot into a proper world shell.

Behaviour

Tremorids are too big to engage in combat with anything meaningful, but they are perhaps the most uniquely suited to attempting to fend off large-scale aggression forces. A well-timed volcanic eruption is capable of producing numerous projectiles or a thick screen of smoke, though of course this is a drastic course of action that the Tremorid does not take lightly, requiring execute authority from the clan's Archmother to even set into motion.

When not being actively called upon for planetary defense, however, Tremorids generally mediate their tectonic activity accordingly, instead using their abilities to create mountains for the clan to harvest minerals from. They are uniquely effective at seeding large deposits of minerals, and while homesteading is not always comfortable on a Tremorid's back, it is known that Howitzers seem to enjoy the engineering challenges, and titans are fond of the often large, stony spaces created by the creation and exploitation of mineral deposits.

Genetic Description

Tremorids are known for their (relatively) hotblooded nature, particularly in the tissue around their cuticles where their internal lithosphere resides. They share this hotblooded trait with Tricksters, though being creatures of their size, this hotbloodedness rarely translates into any kind of frenetic temperament.

Hyacinth's Thoughts

The Tremorids... I was surprised at first to learn we had been living on one for most of our time before becoming aware of them, though after learning of the other Ouroborae, I suppose it made sense: Our home continent had many mountains, after all. Since then, we have taken to settling our large-scale population centers on the others, but we will always cherish the one who was once the cradle of our kin.

Metanarrative

Tremorids were the first Ouroborae to be properly drafted and fleshed out, starting the naming scheme of adjectivized words. They are meant to represent mountainous, geologically active continents such as North America, with an emphasis on mining and unusual engineering challenges. They of course get their name from tremors, which are known both as the initial phases of an earthquake or the uncontrollable shaking of the body.
