Fronds are spawned by Cornucopiae as extensions of their food sharing and nursing abilities. They can produce a wide variety of edible substances from their leafy tails, including things not normally made by plants. A group of Fronds is called a stash.
Fronds are fairly sizeable considering they're spawned three 'tiers' of puppet down from Hyacinth (like Agents), standing at 4' 4" (132cm) with fairly portly builds. Their most distinctive trait is their large, bushy tails, which are typically festooned with edibles of wildly varying type, though unlike the Cornucopiae that spawn them, Fronds do not have leafy manes. Internally, Fronds have a fair amount of plantlike biology, and they respond well to the verdant magics wielded by Cornucopiae and the Cambrians that spawn them.
Fronds mostly act as extensions of Cornucopiae, though they are of course smaller and more nimble due to not being lesser titans. They lack the ability to wield plant magic or spread seeds especially well, but make up for it with the incredibly wild variety of produced edible materials that comes from their tails. While the obvious varieties of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and other such things are of course present, they also produce pieces of meat and even dairy substances as they grow. They can prevent these things from spoiling using a thin capsid layer that keeps contaminants away from the perishable substances, though it also seems to act as a natural preservative as well.
Fronds spend much of their time away from their parents, attempting to disperse food among both puppet and non-puppet populations. This makes them one of the most independent puppet types, though they still display some amount of nervousness or apprehension when extremely far from their parents or other significant quantities of puppets, which most interpret as some degree of homesickness.
As half-plants, Fronds share an unsurprising amount of epigenetic makeup with Cornucopiae and Coddlers, particularly in their actual verdant pieces. Unlike Cornucopiae whose plant components are mostly centralized in their manes and stalks, however, Fronds have a considerable presence of verdant material all throughout their body, explaining their positive reactions to verdant magic.
The scale of titans and lesser titans makes even the puppets that are an extra layer down still considerably large, though this works in the favour of Fronds more than it works against them; it allows them to be slow and chunky and whatnot, like what I imagine actual foodbearing plants would be like if they could do anything more than exist.
